We were doing fine 'til we tied a knot,
Then I didn't like the girl that I got.
You started changing the things I'd do,
Because the way I was didn't suit you. 

You say I need to change how I talked,
That you didn't like the way I walked.
I needed to lose the clothes I wore,
I couldn't see my old friends anymore.

If I had known the way that you were,
I wouldn't be here feelin' insecure.
I'd be out doing things I like to do,
Fact is, I wouldn't be here with you.

I seen it happen to so many before,
Love died, they walked out the door.
You'd said you loved me the way I am,
Now you're wanting a different man.
